Spruce Pine, North Carolina is not a bustling metropolis with skyscrapers and traffic choked freeways. It is a sleepy little mountain town with a beauty and pride unsurpassed by any big city. Nestled in the Blue Ridge perched upon the North Toe River, this gorgeous little town is our adopted home.
Shari and I went to the Switzerland Inn this past weekend to finalize our wedding plans and of course, to fish. This trip though we decided to do something a little different. We pitched a tent at the Crabtree Campground and went to Spruce Pine to check out the florist. While visiting the flower shop, we were treated to a classic and antique car show on “lower” street.
The day was sunny and bright with temperatures in the mid seventies…a huge difference from what it most likely was in the South Carolina lowcountry. We enjoyed the music and cars and Samuel enjoyed the attention from folks who gave him a kind pat on the head.
After our leisurly stroll through nostalgia, we grudgingly brought our minds back to the present and proceded to Roan Mountain and Little Rock Creek. The day was getting on and we were anxious to get started fishing.
